Making Pasta!

We purchased a new pasta maker a few days ago to help make dinner a little more interactive and entertaining for the kids.  Natalie, Amanda and Will all love pasta, and they would eat some form for every meal if they were allowed to do so.  If it is not Mac and Cheese, it will be Spaghetti, Fettuccine. tortellini, rigatoni, etc., on the request list.  We tried our first batch and each gave their all into making their own personal batch.  Below, Will helps Dad crank out the the last pass through the past cutter wheels.  What concentration!

Will keeps cranking our several feet of taste fettuccine.

Next is Natalie's turn.  She is helping roll the pasta into the proper thickness.

Another  pass as it is not quite there.

FInally, we have reached the proper thickness and through the cutter it goes.

This is long pasta!

Very long pasta!

Here is our first attempt, and it tasted even better!  Bon Appetite!

Sable Update - New Cast!

As prescribed, Sable had a vet visit on Monday to check the progress of the incision and leg.  Sable checked out fine and was given a new cast.  Although the purple option was not available, they were able to provide Sable this bright pink model with lovely purple heart!

Doesn't she look just beautiful!

Poor Sable

Yes, Poor Sable!  Last weekend Sable had a slip on our stairs and hurt her leg.  She had a severe limp and we decided to take her to the vet for a check.   Unfortunately, they found that she had cracked her knee cap and needed surgery to fuse the piece back together, in hopes to regain mobility.  She came home the next day after surgery with this monster cast on her hind leg.   It goes all the way up to her hip and she has a terrible time moving about.  She was wearing a very large lamp shade on her head, but she is taking the cast in stride and is not trying yet to chew the cast.  She will basically live here in this dog bed in the middle of our family room for about 8-12 weeks.  Wow...did they really say 8-12 weeks?

Fortunately, we all love Sable very much and she get lots of love and attention from everyone.  The kids have been great being little nurses for our favorite pet.  They immediately "autographed" her cast with notes about how much they love her  (although, Natalie wants Sable to have a purple cast --one...maybe on Monday when they take it off to tend to her incision.) Natalie is also very concerned about Sable and making her feel better and made this lovely get well card with pictures and get well wishes.  How wonderful is this!

Get well Sable, we all love you!

Bodega Bay Part III

Here is the final set of Bodega Bay Photos.  As the cake below describes, we love Bodega Bay...especially spending time with family and friends.

You never can predict the weather that will happen along the coast, but we have been fortunate the last few years for at least a few days of sun and warm weather...considering it is February...and considering this year all the cold weather that hit the Midwest and east this year.

This kids photos says it all...we love it and are having a great time!

Natalie and Amanda have fun doing piggy back rides.

Next is Ali and Natalie for a turn.

Amanda and Dempsey give it a go.

While the "boys" play golf, the women stay at the house to do arts and crafts with the kids.   This year, it was decorating coolies...what better fun could they have!

Amanda takes care to make it just right.

Will says..."I just want to eat the icing!"

Amanda makes a colorful set.

Natalie is all done and is Happy Happy!

Since our Bodega Bay house sits right on the golf course, Dad and the boys always stop by to visit and surprise the kids.  Everyone was so excited to jump on the golf cart for a ride and managed to pose for nice photo.  (Right after this photo, Will decided to hop down and press the gas pedal to give all a fun ride!)

As we said, the weather is unpredictable, and a quick trip to the ocean shows stormy weather.  However, for Will and Amanda, they loved it even though it was cold and windy.  [Natalie, our hot chocolate girl who prefers to sit by the fire, is nowhere to be found  ;-) ]

Hey, this is fun!

The kids had a blast running in and out with the waves...

If you look to the back left, you can see a wind surfer.

Another great advantage of Bodega Bay is that is is very close to California Wine county.   We know we make sacrifices...so Mom and Dad always find ourselves giving in and making time to stop to allow the kids a few minutes to walk the grounds of a few wineries.

Right across the street from one of Dad's favorites wineries, is a relatively new venue for the Russian River Valley.  They have both great wines and rustic grounds.  Here are a few photos of the kids making themselves home to the estate.

Will finally warms up for a kid photo.

Another of our beautiful girls.

Natalie strikes a pose.

Amanda also hows her stuff!

We will definitely stop by this winery again, as they had ice pops for kids...how family friendly can you get!  Nice job!

How did Dad find that glass of wine?

The grounds of this winery are very impressive.  Many a great photo can be had.  Here are Amanda and Natalie posing above the valley.

They also have sculpture art...that apparently doubles for a play ground...thank goodness no one is watching...

They also have a great picnic area...perfect for handstands and cartwheels.

Natalie gives a handstand a valiant effort!

Natalie poses in front of the rock waterfall and trellis.

Out front, they have beautiful stones planted in the ground...aka Stone Henge.

We all had a wonderful time at Bodega Bay, and look forward to our trip next year!
