For the past few years, the kids enjoy swim lessons early every Saturday morning. Being out, we always try to find something different to do to keep them active and burn as much energy as possible! On one recent Saturday morning, swim lessons was followed by a wide selection for fun activities. First, a stop at a brand new kids park in Sacramento. There are many different activities like tree houses, slides, rings, balance beams and one of their favorite, a colorful climbing wall! Here Natalie and Amanda show off their skill!
Mom! Look how high I am!
After the climbing wall, it was a diversion to the tight rope. It is not that far off the ground, but they found it to be equally as challenging as if it were 20 stories high. (Nice face for Natalie! She just can't wait for Amanda to clear the span.)
While the girls were trying out their balancing skills, will disappeared but was quickly found on top of the play rock structure. "Dad, I can climb up here all by my self!"
Along the way home after the park, we were surprised to learn that our local fire station was having an open house. All the brave firemen and fire women greeted each visitor. Sparky was also there and Amanda and Will could not wait to have their picture taken with him. (Natalie was still hiding at this moment.)
Everyone also got an opportunity to sit in the cool fire engine and pretend to drive to help save the day! Will seems to enjoy the thought of how high he is verses driving to the rescue!
Right behind the driver is a large cab for the crew. The kids thought it was great fun pretending it was a tree club house.
This year, we were able to go inside for a tour to see how all the firemen live, eat and sleep during their on call assignment. The TV room is full of reclining chairs, and Will settles down thinking he will get to see Scooby Doo!
Right next to the TV room is the kitchen. Everyone was surprised to see how many refrigerators were needed for all the hungry residents.
At the end of the tour, everyone got to spend time with Sparky...even Natalie!
At the last minute, we were able to get this great family photo!
Well, if the park and the fire station was not enough. We also were able to create this fun obstacle course in our upstairs hallway. The objective, go from one end of the hall to the other end...without touching any of the electric streamers! On your mark...get set...GO!
Amanda is off to record her record time.
